Miss America Day of Service

One of the most important aspects of the Miss America program that just makes my heart so happy is the service element. So much of this year of service that I've been so humbled to have is community oriented. Service is one of the four points of the crown, and so much of the Miss America Organization is centered around this crucial component. Last year, the MAO started an annual, nationwide day of service, Miss America Serves, and I tomorrow is the 2nd Annual event!

That being said, I couldn't imagine any better way to spend my birthday (hooray to 20 blessed years!) than waking up at 4:45am to go serve at the Carmel Marathon.

Okay.. Maybe I lied about the waking up early part ;) But I am so thrilled and honored that I get to start my birthday giving back and loving on the community. I truly believe that giving is far more precious than receiving, and there is nothing that fills my cup more than being able to help other people. I'm also excited to have the opportunity to come together with my other MAO sisters! Knowing that I get to be a small part of encouraging our community will enough to get me out of bed tomorrow morning bright and early. What a wonderful gift!

With that being said, I want to challenge YOU to get involved and make a difference! I will be sure to share pictures and updates of all the exciting things happening tomorrow, but be encouraged to get involved in the community and know that you can help be apart of something bigger.
